The average indie CD costs the artist about $3,000.oo for 1,000 CD’s = 3.00 per CD.

1,000 CD’s printed, pressed, wrapped, bar coded, and with Jewel cases = $1,000.00

Artwork, studio time, and personal time to produce enough songs for a small CD = $2,000.00

Once an artist has invested time and effort into a project their seems to be an expected return, yet the reality of the situation is perhaps one of disappointment, because a great sounding project is not selling like predicted.

Digital distribution of music is the way for the independent artist to remain in control of their creations. Accurate reporting to copyright agencies and using only music services that report and pay royalties to those organizations is ideal to receive a return on the investment of the music project.

Plan B Records guides Independent Artists and Labels through the digital distribution maze for a 15% fee from overall digital sells and royalties, all of which are absorbed up front by Plan B Records with no start up costs to the Artist or Label. All payments from online and digital sales will be paid to Plan B Records from the consumer and payments from Plan B Records will be paid to the artists and labels within a normal reporting quarter time structure.

Our goal for unsigned artists is to allow their music to be heard, bought, commented on and rated on line.

We do not sign artists to our label for exclusive rights, nor do we offer record deals. We offer online promotion, digital music players for web sites and label support, for and with other independent labels.

We will sponsor most unsigned artist w/ a 85 / 15 cut. That means the artists keeps 85% of gross profits. Everything after expenses is split 2 ways 85% to the artist and 15% to Plan B Records.

$-0.01 = media hosting / advertising
$-0.10 = 10% to plan B records
